In our busy advertising agency, getting in the zone can be difficult. Between phone calls with clients resolving everything from a website design change to a copywriting revision and internal meetings to ensure that the whole team is on the same page as we proceed with a project, it can be a challenge to maintain focus on specific task and see it through to completion.

For me to get in the zone, I think about a project on my tasklist prior to initiating my responsibilities, set up all of the resources I need to use, and plug my headphones in to listen to a certain type of music - without too many words and with a good, steady beat. So, as I write this blog and think about what project I will work on next, I’m thinking about what music might be a good fit. For the scriptwriting I need to do for an occupational therapy company, I’m thinking reggae and for the content plan of a website integrated with search engine optimization for a U.S. and international systems operations company, I’m thinking jazz. Swing by my office and you might actually see a dancing copywriter in action.

I was going through some old cd backups yesterday and found some old versions of my website from 2004-2006. I cringe when I think of the fact I used to code a html page for every picture I put on my website and link to each of these pages with a javascript pop-up: the shame! It used to take hours as well. Image maps, tables and frames… oh the horror!

2004:

In 2006 my website coding had improved in the sense that I validated code and tried to write it to look the same in as many browsers as possible. I had stopped using tables and frames for layout as well. I hate tables.

2006

Now I try to make websites as simple and clean as possible, validate to W3C standards and easy to update as I want to spend as little time having to do this so I can paint more.

I’m still using pop-ups in my latest website design though in the form of a light view script, which I will be getting rid of in the next inevitable layout change later this year.

I want to make images viewable on the same page without pop-ups because its even starting to bug me now after using similar methods for two years to date.

I also find that when you start to add more sections to a website it can get a bit messy if you don’t plan for them in the first place.

I also found my first Sim Attire website with all the skins I made for the game. I had almost forgotten about this strange obsession I had with making clothes for Maxis’s “The Sims”. I took down the site years ago simply because I got really bored with the game and making skins for it. I also wanted to spend more time on digital art.

Here are a few pictures of some of the better skins I made (warning they are not very good).

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

Lara Croft Tomb Raider

Jane the Elf

Dark Crystal

Dungeon Keeper Dark Mistress

Prince of Persia (obviously I stopped playing the Sims after I played this game, one of the best games I have played apart from the Legacy of Kain series.)

These were based on Earthworm Jim. My sister has made one of, if not the biggest Earthworm Jim fan sites EVER….at Rocketworm.com. I am still working on bringing her away from her obsession so she can work on other things but it is difficult for her to let go.

Customized website design Chicago offers something worthy. Its importance shall never be underrated. Web design is as a process of perception, preparation, and final execution of the website. Jacksonville web design studio knows, that it is important for this process to be carried out effectively. Despite wordpress themes, available online for home-made websites, the creation of a custom professional web design requires skill that can take several years to master.

A newbie without essential knowledge, combined with rich experience is not able to execute the task properly. Only a skilled web designer, who has acquired abundant proficiency in this field is the right person who can give your website the required artistic appeal in its look and add a professional feel.

When your website has a professional look, you need to think about its aims. It’s important to remember the undoubted fact that your website primarily targets your visitors. These people are your prospective customers, who come seeking some kind of information. And it’s the job of your website to manipulate the user’s preliminary insight of the website’s implication and convince these people to survey deeper into your company’s website.

Gold coins have gone up a great deal in value in the last couple of years and since they are now so expensive, there are a few things you should watch for when making your purchases. With the advent of the internet, you are not limited to the local coin dealer anymore. This can give you the opportunity to get better prices on many coins, but also may introduce a few more things for you to think about when buying your gold coins.

1. Whether you are buying from a bricks and mortar dealer or buying online through website or and auction site like EBay, check the reliability of the dealer first. For a store, at least check with the local Better Business Bureau. If the dealer is a member of the Professional Numismatists Guild (PNG), that is a big plus. For an EBay auction, check the seller\ s feedback rating. If it\ s very low, or there are many negatives, think twice (and a third time) before spending a large sum with them. Even if the feedback seems good, look closer, some people will buy or sell a number of very inexpensive items to build up their ratings, then jump in selling big ticket items. On large ticket items, ask if the seller will agree to use Escrow.com. They act as a middleman in the transaction and the money doesn t pass to the seller until the buyer is satisfied with the item. There is a charge, which the buyer would be expected to pay, but its well worth it when big money is changing hands.

2. One of the biggest problems buying collectible gold coins is grading. Your idea of an MS65 may be different than the dealer\ s. Many coins have a huge gap in value between grades. Avoid the issue by buying only coins that have been graded by one of the third party grading services. Make sure that you only accept the major services (ANACS, NCG, PCGS, NCS, ICG) grading, there are some lesser known grading services whose grading may be suspect. You should also want the grading to have been done in the recent past. Grading standards have changed over time and what was an MS65 five or ten years ago, might only be an MS63 or 64 today.

3. Make sure the seller has a return policy that will allow you a refund if you are not satisfied with the coin. This should apply to both on-line and off-line dealers. This is especially important if you are buying a non-certified coin. You want to have the option to return it if your grading service returns a lower grade than you bought it at.

4. Buy the scarcest coin in the best condition that you can afford. Many collectible gold coins sell near the melt price of gold because there are more than enough around to cover demand. This is especially true in the lower grades. When gold increases or decreases in value, these coins will follow by a like percentage. But the higher the grade, the lower the population and demand will push up the price rather than just following the price of gold.

5. Try to invest regularly. As with the stock market, it\ s very difficult to call the tops and bottoms of the coin market. Over the course of time, you will fare better by dollar cost averaging than investing a large amount at one time.

Article by Ken MacKenzie
Ken is a successful writer and online entrepreneur. He has developed Gold Coin Investing as a portal for presenting articles, information, resources, news and links about buying and investing in gold coins.

Product Description:
The sequel to the Razor A, the Razor A2 adds its own distinctive style to Americas favorite scooter. Great for recreation and short commutes to school and work. Always wear protective gear.
Amazon.com Product Description:
The original kick scooter just got a whole lot better, making it even more fun for kids and teens alike. Though it’ll never replace the internal combustion engine, the Razor A2 will get your child from point A to point B much quicker than on foot alone, and requires just a few scoots of one’s shoes in the process. Plus, it’s a blast to use, as your progeny will likely attest.

The Razor A2 is built of aircraft-grade aluminum, a sturdy material that holds up to use and abuse through the years. Razor combined the traditional aluminum construction, however, with a number of recent innovations, including a springless shock system that makes bumpy pavement feel smoother than ever and an all-new wheelie bar that guarantees an extra dollop of fun. Add in the foldable T-tube and deck, which tuck together to create a compact footprint (ideal for carrying when riding isn’t appropriate), and you have a great kick scooter for virtually any situation. Other details include an enhanced finger guard, 98 mm inline-style wheels, and a patented rear fender brake for quick stops.

This version of the Razor A2, which weighs around 6 pounds and supports up to 143 pounds, sports red handlebars, a red deck logo, and red wheels and is recommended for ages 5 and older. It’s also backed by a six-month warranty. For the next step up, try the Razor A3 Scooter.

Customer Reviews

Great outdoor fun
I got two of these for my 10 year old girl/boy twins, and both love them. They don’t do any difficult tricks, but just ride them around the neighborhood. My daughter said this scooter was much nicer than her friend’s scooter which was a cheaper model.

Well worth the money
Our kids received one each from their grandparents and want to ride everyday. I must admit that I am under the weight limitation and I am thoroughly enjoying the Razor myself … when our son will share his and ride his bike instead.
No parent will be disappointed with this gift for kids and if you’re under 143lbs, for yourself as well.

turns on a dime
My six year old girl asked for a two-wheeled scooter for Christmas so she could go super fast! It does!! And it turns on a dime! It didn’t take long for her to learn how to control steering, braking, etc. And she’s on to doing stunts “like the big boys do”. She always wears her helmet. It is easy to store and travel since it folds. It should last as she grows with the easy to adjust handle. Gravel slows her down but doesn’t stop her in her tracks so don’t worry about having a perfectly smooth surface for good performance.

“Purple” Razor
I purchased a “Purple” Razor A2 Kick Scooter. My 6 year old granddaughter was one happy little girl and with it being purple was even more exciting. It was great when I found this on Amazon.com and I received it in time for Christmas. Thank you

kickin’ scooter!
So far, so good with my 5 year old son’s new razor scooter. It’s a simple enough product, so I don’t know how it could get bad reviews. Does it get my child from point A to point B without any serious mishaps? Yes indeedy. Ok, I do have one negative to point out. Be careful when you pick the dang thing up to move it when your child leaves it laying in the middle of the garage, as it spins around and will catch your ankle with the heavy metal board. Son of a motherless goat, that’s gonna leave a mark!!

The Lincoln Highway Buy Way — Aug 7, 8 & 9, 2008 — is a yard sale that stretches hundreds of miles along the famous coast-to-coast road. Homeowners, businesses, and civic groups set up antiques, yard decorations, and lots of other things to buy for mile after mile. The event has grown to include Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and West Virginia: click here for details about some of the larger organized events in each of ths states. Here’s more info from the Ohio release:

The Lincoln Highway Historic Byway created this event four years ago (in 2005) on the outside chance that it would ‘go’ and we’ve been busy managing it ever since,” said Sara Lou Brown, Wyandot County’s Visitor Bureau director and president of the state-designated byway group. The first year saw over 250 yard sales across the Ohio portion of the Lincoln Highway, America’s first coast-to-coast paved road.

As the original road was improved from 1913 to 1928, it took several parallel alignments in a few areas, which may confuse shoppers, but thanks to many organizations wanting to bring traffic to their door, a new traveler’s guide and map will be printed showing not only the road map of the highway, but also a listing of many yard sales and community events along the way. This free guide will be available in mid July.

Mike Hocker, executive director of the byway noted that “we think we are going to have over 700 yard sales in Ohio, parts of Indiana, and even Illinois this year…but the best news is that yard salers, of which we have virtually no control, seem to be organizing into larger and (cooler) venues for the hot August fun. This makes for safer traffic and parking, provides for restrooms and other creature comforts, and makes for longer browsing of more “stuff.” Communities are also adding festival-type activities such as concerts, car shows and rallies, food and kids’ activities…all to make the event more enjoyable for those travelling.

Yard Sale participants may also upload their yard sale information onto the website, (www.historicbyway.com) which shoppers can then print out and take with them to follow as they shop.

For more information and official yard sale supplies or details about listing in the travelers guide, call (419) the image below for a print-ready flyer from Ohio:
